What is a CourScore?
CourScore is Courcast's daily renewal probability score for every anime it tracks - a single number that tells you how likely a show is to get a second season.
The short answer
A CourScore is a number from 0 to 100. Higher is better - a score of 85 means the show is showing very strong renewal signals across all the factors Courcast tracks. A score of 20 means the signals are weak. It updates every day as new data comes in, so it reflects the current state of a show, not just how it launched.
The score is not a fan vote or a poll. It is calculated from real-world signals: streaming performance, social momentum, available source material, and production history.
What the numbers mean
Every title on Courcast falls into one of five bands. The band updates daily as signals change.

How CourScore is calculated
Four categories of signal feed into every CourScore, weighted and combined daily:
Streaming performance
Platform engagement, viewership momentum, and how the show trends on the services carrying it. A show that keeps pulling new viewers weeks after launch scores higher than one that peaked on release day.
Fandom demand
Social buzz, trending data, and community discussion volume. This captures organic fan interest - not manufactured hype - including Reddit threads, Twitter/X mentions, and search momentum.
Source-material runway
How many manga chapters, light novel volumes, or other source content remains unadapted. A show can be wildly popular but score low if the studio has already used up all the material. Learn more about cours and source-material runway.
Production momentum
The franchise's track record, the studio's output history, and any known production signals - staff comments, trademark filings, or sequel-bait in the finale. A studio that reliably renews hits scores differently than one that rarely does.

- Is CourScore the same as a renewal probability percentage?
- CourScore is expressed as a number from 0 to 100, not as a percentage. While the underlying model estimates renewal likelihood, we display it as a score rather than a percentage to make it clear it is a composite signal - not a simple coin-flip probability. A score of 80 means strong signals, not exactly an 80% chance.
- Can a CourScore change after an anime finishes airing?
- Yes. Scores often move significantly in the weeks after a finale as streaming numbers settle, social discussion peaks, and any production news emerges. A show can surge if a sequel gets hinted at, or drop if it goes completely quiet.
- What happens to the score if a renewal is confirmed?
- Once a renewal is officially announced, the title is marked Confirmed on Courcast and removed from the active ranking. The CourScore is no longer relevant at that point - you've got your answer.
