This animation was based on a scene I dreamt, where white smoke was rising from a bed. I was influenced by one of Zhuangzi’s thought, The butterfly dream, and visualized the contrast between dream and reality. While I was creating this piece, I was never aware of whom the man sleeping in the movie was, but somehow, he ended up looking just like my grandfather.

Courcast score breakdown
CourScore weighs signals for an official sequel announcement within 18 months, blending attention velocity, completion strength, and catalogue health.
CourScore
12.6
CourScore measures renewal signals out of 100. It is not a calibrated probability of an official sequel announcement within 18 months.
Signal coverage: 100% • Signal freshness: High • Updated 7 hours ago
Top reasons
- Domestic episode engagement (Niconico) - 9,284,550 episode views on Niconico (JP domestic)
- Titles like this rarely return - 16 years with no new entry: of films (first entries) in that position, under 1% got a new season or film within 10 years
- Domestic streaming rank (d'Anime/ABEMA) - Ranked #69 on domestic JP streaming platforms
This is an anime original, not an adaptation, so there is no source material to run down - renewal turns on sales and popularity rather than runway.
