Feathers Gazing into the Darkness, Feathers Staring into the Darkness, Yami wo Mitsumeru Hane, A Feather Stare at the Dark, 闇を見つめる羽根, Thinking and Drawing: Nihon no Shinseiki Art Animation, Thinking and Drawing: Japanese Art Animation of the New Millennium
A couple of winged beings make love and fly away. They bear a child in an egg, and when the child opens its eyes they are immediately destroyed, one consumed by fire and the other by water.
Mythical, elemental and mysterious, the world created by Tsuji is dangerous, menacing and suffuse with signs of apocalypse, but somehow simultaneously tender and compassionate. A Feather Stare at the Dark captures simple gestures and primal feelings and amplifies them, realising the non-verbal and non-literal with remarkable grace.

CourScore measures renewal signals out of 100. It is not a calibrated probability of an official sequel announcement within 18 months.
Signal coverage: 100% • Signal freshness: Medium • Updated 10 hours ago
Top reasons
- MAL community size - 1,724 MAL list entries (watching/completed/planned)
- Cross-platform popularity index - Aggregate reach of ~420 followers
- Titles like this rarely return - 23 years with no new entry: of films (first entries) in that position, under 1% got a new season or film within 10 years
This is an anime original, not an adaptation, so there is no source material to run down - renewal turns on sales and popularity rather than runway.
